Most if not everyone is in high gear because of this Christmas season. We are busy shopping and getting the "ideal" gifts for loved ones. Some are purchasing gifts for the less fortunate and they try to make this Christmas as memorable as possible.
Many times it appears that Christmas is so commercialized that the Baby born in a manger over 2000 years ago is used as a marketing strategy to get customers into the stores. We seem to have lost the reason for the season which is the gift of God's only begotten Son, Jesus Christ.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" - John 3:16.
We celebrate the season as a commemoration of His birth (Jesus'), although we know from history that He was not actually born on December 25, in the winter. However, this time provides an opportunity for us to speak about Him freely - people in general seem more receptive.
It was brought to my attention again today, that there are people who do not believe that God exists and hence they can be hostile to us who believe in His existence. Whether we believe He exists or not, going on the evidence in nature and other areas which are indicative of a Supreme God's, one thing is sure; you can either accept the truth or reject the truth. Is not God wonderful; He has given us choice, that is, He does not force us to serve Him. However, He gives us the benefits of serving Him - everlasting life
My hope and wish is that as we contemplate this season we will see Christ , our righteousness, our shield, our buckler as the one who has the solutions for all our selfishness. One lyricist says it this way
"Jesus is the answer for the world today."
Happy Holidays
Elder, I agree that, "Jesus is the reason for the season" and one of our main Christian duties is to spread the Love of Jesus to people who do not know about this Man Jesus, our Savior and Lord.
